Last night's Tarantula!

The Tarantula was probably 6 inches in diameter, so, big enough to impress me!

Show Low, Arizona, My new place.

What chaos a move can be! Who knew you had so much stuff?And what a process getting it from one place to the next! I started loading the truck on July 11th and the next afternoon I drove it and all my stuff out of Maricopa and up to Show Low, AZ. I got to my new place about 7 something, exhausted and not looking forward to the unloading of the next day! I survived it and have been here almost three weeks now! The new place is big enough and the garage or shop is even big enough for my inspirations of what a shop should be! 30 X 30 feet will do nicely! The property has few neighbors and is most peaceful almost all the time. We do get monsoon storms almost every evening so far and the temp's are very pleasant! The critters are a little different here. Ground squirrels and chipmunks mostly, but we see rabbits daily, hummingbirds in quantity and the occasional deer or two. We have seen Elk but not yet at our house. Oh and the other day I caught a baby Horned lizard and a baby Tarantula! The latest critter was last night. On my way over to a friends for dinner I almost ran over a full sized Tarantula crossing the road! I backed up and took a couple of pic's of the very large spider, then went on to dinner with  my new friends! A lovely evening for sure!

2 Haboob's in 2 Days

The top picture is one I took on July 6th and the bottom one I took the day before. So on July 5th this bottom dust storm came in and caught my attention as it moved across the landscape engulfing everything as it moved along. After it arrived it made everything dusty and the wind picked up and all in all it was a little exciting! The next evening started out much the same way as the Haboob approached and came in at almost the same direction and speed, but this second one was different! This Haboob had teeth! You can almost see the dirt and sand in the cloud and it's shape was not soft and fluffy, but edgy and course. I took video and pictures and awaited it's arrival. Well it was a lot different, fierce winds and it was as if darkness had fallen when I knew it was still light outside. And the sound was like a sandblaster doing the house and everything around it. It went on for what seemed like hours and I even went outside in it once to keep the patio furniture from breaking the windows. And when I came in from outside I had sand in every place that was exposed- shower time! The rain came down and mud was plastered on all the windward surfaces, still the next day even. So the next day was a clean up day and it took awhile to sweep up all the sand and dirt left over from the evening before. Cool huh?

Twenty Eleven, already, Wow!

Greetings and best wishes to you this new year 2011! Yes its true that time flies when you are having fun, but I have found that it flies even when you're not having so much fun. So as you can tell last year was not much to write home about and I wrote very little. It was probably as good for me as it was hard for me as I combed through the depths of my being, searching for the answers and for the questions that evaded me. There is so much that I have learned in this journey and I find that some things are needed for me to learn again, yes I did learn them and somewhere I forgot. I want so much to be a better person, not so much interested in my own needs and or wants but someone who can help others and find ways to be useful and uplifting to those I meet or know. It's like the love principal, Love is only love if you give it away! If you want to feel more love then give more love. It's like God's love is all around us and filling us and so to get more love we have just to give ours away and automatically we get refilled with the love we need. And then there is grace! What can I say, its what we get from God when we deserve the worse, Love again! And you know with New Years the resolutions are always talked about and the failure rate is, well, not so good. My resolution went like this, God you know my failure rate and the only way I can succeed is for you to do it for me so all I can promise is that I will try! And you know what, God is doing it for me! I try and God provides the strength and He is the success in my failure and the hope in my tomorrow!

When to start cussing.

WHEN TO START CUSSING;
A 6 year old and a 4 year old are upstairs in their bedroom. The 6 year old asks, "You know what? I think it's about time we started cussing."The 4 year old nods his head in approval. The 6 year old continues,"When we go downstairs for breakfast, I'm gonna say something with hell and you say something with ass." The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm. When the Mother walks into the kitchen and asks the 6 year old what he wants for breakfast, he replies, "Aw, hell, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios. WHACK! He flies out of his chair,tumbles across the floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit,slapping his rear with every step.. His Mom locks him in his room and shouts, "You can stay in there until I let you out!" She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4 year old and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast, young man?"I don't know", he blubbers, "but you can bet your fat ass it won't be cheerios!" A journey in a journey......I'm back.

I got back last night from a journey/adventure.! I got a call from my friend Doug informing me that he needed a car transported up to his car lot on Whidbey Island, WA. And wanted to know if I was the one for the job? Was I ever ready for a road trip!! Life was just not going as I was hoping and a road trip seems to have a centering effect on me most of the time! And this one was good for me! I left Mesa,AZ on that Saturday at about noon. 842 miles later I could go no farther and I stopped at a rest area to stretch out for a rest! The next day was better driving with not as much fog as the day before! Both in my head and on the road! When I got into the mountains the drive was real nice for January! No snow down low! Shasta was out in all its glory and I took pic's as I was driving by! I caught the 11pm ferry over to Whidbey and drove to Doug's beach house (in the pic's). Then we went to an auction in Eugene,Oregon on Tuesday, he bought a boat and we brought it back to the Island that night. By the next day the flights back to Phoenix were mostly full for the rest of the week! So , there are worse places to be left low and wet! Yes it rained almost all week! I am not complaining though! It was a great trip, a great time with my friend Doug and a great flight home! Blessings are worth counting! And Lord, please help the people of Haiti Thank you Lord!! Jon
